Chinese artist Tian Wei's exhibition has been an exciting mix of large scale vibrant colour and language; but not as you know it.

Wei was born in Xi’an, the once imperial capital known for its Terra-Cotta Army, he left China for Hawaii to pursue a career in the arts in 1986. Tian Wei uses familiar English words and phrases presented in the form of Chinese calligraphy. These chosen words transport the viewer into the artist’s cultural heritage of both the Eastern and Western hemispheres.

School workshops experimented with light to create 'sonic portraits' as well as understanding colour through painting and colour wheels

Themes: abstract painting, words, personal identity and meanings

Cross Curricular Links: Literacy, electricity

Here, at the October Gallery we try to run all our projects and events with little, or no financial cost for our community.

Sadly, this means that we can not offer refunds because the fee is going towards keeping our programme exciting and accessible for ALL art lovers and allows us to keep working as a charity.
