Thursday 8th October-Wednesday 18th November

This Black History Month will explore the work of Guyanese artist Aubrey Williams who was an integral part of CAM (Caribbean Artists Movement) in England during the 1960s. Artist facilitators will integrate this significant time in history while examining his abstract paintings.

Williams then created in the 1980s a ‘Shostakovich’ series which responded to close listening of the symphonies and string quartets of one of the greatest composers of the mid-twentieth century. This connection with music will be the inspiration for these workshops which will closely explore the relationship between music, improvisation, language and art.

Here, at the October Gallery we try to run all our projects and events with little, or no financial cost for our community.

Sadly, this means that we can not offer refunds because the fee is going towards keeping our programme exciting and accessible for ALL art lovers and allows us to keep working as a charity.
