OG Education Exhibition

P.O.V: Pigeons Don't Run This City

Thursday 4th - Saturday 6th July 2024

This summer October Gallery exhibited our annual education show, ‘P.O.V: Pigeons Don't Run This City’ that featured innovative mixed media artworks. Curated by the OG Youth Collective, this exhibition offers a unique exploration of how individuals are perceived in various contexts and environments.

Artworks with themes of "Person and Place," reflected different viewpoints on the vibrant city of London, capturing its movement, energy, and the layered communal memories it holds.

The exhibition challenged visitors to consider how context shapes perception. It invited viewers to ponder: How do pigeons view us? This intriguing question set the stage for a reflection on urban life from an unconventional vantage point.

We discovered the collaborative spirit of the exhibition through artworks developed with OGE Beacon schools, community groups, and art education freelancers.

Featured Artworks and Collaborations:

Assemblage Collective: A collaborative matchbook artwork showcasing the diverse artistic voices and observations of the young creatives in Assemblage and OG Youth Collectives.

Holborn Community Association:  Local young artists explored their shared experience of London life and cultural identity in the ‘Same Sea Different Boat’ project. Working with artist Esther Adesigbin creating Adire cloth, cast forms, and modelled assembled elements to present their individual ‘boats’ which offer a modern twist on traditional techniques.
